Planned Educational Facilities at the
New Manatee Players Performing Arts Center
The New Riverfront Theatre will be built to provide more than a wonderful place to perform and to attend a performance; one of the main reasons for its construction is the need for additional space to house the many performing arts classes currently limited by the lack of classrooms and equipment. As the rapid growth of our current programs indicates, the local demand for classes in the performing arts far exceeds the ability of our community to meet that demand.
Youth Education Programs will be able to grow significantly with the addition of two new facilities, a Youth Studio/Performance Space and a Youth Classroom Space.
The Youth Studio/Performance Space will be able to accommodate about 100 students or audience members in a variety of classroom and theatrical settings. The room will have a high ceiling with a full pipe grid to facilitate flexible lighting and rigging. The space will be able to accommodate classroom style instruction as well as theater arts workshops covering performing, technical and musical topics. The Space will also be perfect for smaller scale intimate presentations, experimental theater and cabaret seating for about 100.
The Youth Classroom/Rehearsal Space on the second floor provides additional educational venues. This room can be subdivided into a large and a small classroom. These rooms can be utilized as one large teaching workshop or rehearsal space or as two separate small group ensemble rooms.
